Grace is a dog whose story started at a park near my home. The park has neighborhood baseball fields and includes a walking track with a pond and wooded areas. For many, it’s a place for exercise and family parties and barbeques.
Unfortunately, it’s also a dumping ground for unwanted pets. One day as I walked at the park, I saw yet another abandoned animal, a new brown medium sized boxer-type dog. All abandoned animals tug at your heart but this one was unusually sad. She was so terrified of any human contact that if someone came close, she would run into the woods moving faster than I’ve ever seen a dog run.
This was the pattern for several months. It’s hard seeing an animal in that much distress and distrust, so I tried approaching her several times with food. Nothing seemed to work and she wouldn’t let me near. Not knowing what else to do, I called in Higher Angelic assistance hoping that they would intervene where I couldn’t.
After a while, the dog stopped showing up. I often wondered what had happened to her or where she had gone, but several months later as I walked in the park, a woman approached with a dog on a leash. I knew instantly that it was that same brown dog, so I stopped the woman and asked to hear more of the story.
The woman said that she and her husband also walked at the park and were touched by this special dog. They tried for a month to entice her with food and coaxing, but she would always run. One day though, she just stood quietly and let them put a leash on her to take her home. Now she’s a gentle, well-behaved, loving dog and very happy with her new family. They named her Grace because they say she’s such a wonderful pet and gift to them.
It’s uplifting hearing about Grace’s happy ending and I’m convinced that the Angels played a part in helping her find her new home. Grace’s story carries a message of hope and healing for all of us. Who hasn’t felt lost, abandoned, mistreated or unloved at some time? Like Grace, we all deserve kindness from unexpected places, the healing power of love, and to be where we are wanted and thrive.
We’ll never know how Grace ended up at our park, but this special dog continues to touch the whole community. She brings a message of surviving, persevering, and seeking until she found the wonderful new life that she has now.
