Maybe You had to go There to be Here
Maybe you've thought about past events and circumstances in your life that might have turned out differently. It’s easy to think that if you had only gone a another direction or tried something new, your circumstances might have been better.
I once had a special co-worker from Oklahoma who always seemed to have a homespun, practical saying when one was needed. If she heard anyone express a regret or doubt about where they were or a choice they had made, she would just shrug. She would respond by telling them that maybe they had to go there to be here, meaning that all of their experiences helped them gain wisdom and knowledge and brought them to where they were at the present time.
I hope that you can look at past experiences with love and compassion, realizing that you may have needed the successes, mistakes, and all the other directions that you took to be exactly where you are today.
Embrace all that you have and where you are right now because what you’ve gained from your past is helping you create your new best today.
