For the intuitive job seeker:

Three must-know strategies for finding more job leads

January 23, 2022

If you’re currently job searching or want to change your career, the current market can be intimidating. Higher unemployment, company reductions, and layoffs make it seem discouraging and disheartening to even consider finding something new.

However, even with challenging market conditions, there are job seekers who are finding new jobs and changing careers with success. The secret is knowing how and where to look. If you are an intuitive job seeker, combining the right job search strategies while sustaining higher energies is a powerful combination that ensures that you'll be at the right place at the right time to manifest your next best job.

It’s important to work smarter, not harder, and there are three powerful strategies which shorten your search and accelerate finding what you want.

The Hidden job Market:

Knowing these strategies can transform how you find more job openings but to use them, you need to be aware of something called the hidden job market.

The hidden job market are all those jobs which are never advertised anywhere. These are jobs which will be filled internally or by word-of-mouth before they are ever posted. It’s estimated that between 75% to 85% of jobs that become available are first filled through the hidden job market so it’s important to know about it and how to make it work for you.

To tap into the power of the hidden job market, you need to know your specific job/job title that you want and then be pro-active and creative with your career search. Using the hidden job market will require reaching out to other professionals so it’s also important to have an introductory speech ready. This is called a personal commercial or elevator speech and is a way to briefly introduce yourself, who you are, the skills you have, and how you can benefit others.

Three must-know ways to crack the hidden job market:

Direct employer contacts and target companies:

A direct employer contact means just that. It’s finding a specific company and contacting them directly through various means. When you have the company name, you can start researching and following them through social media or even contact them directly through email or a phone call. It enables you to find and identify others who either work for that company, or may know someone who does and who may be willing to network for you.

Company information that you want to look for includes who they are, what they do, if they have any current openings, where they post them, and how to submit your application or resume. Remember that as you are contacting companies, don't get discouraged if they don't have a current opening. Even if they don’t have something now, they may in the future so check back with them consistently.

Ways to find out about companies include searching online, using Linkedin (many companies post openings, recruit candidates, and network here), job boards, and current business magazines/journals. Your local library and chamber of commerce may also have valuable information.

Reference USA, A to Z, and other business directories list companies and business data and are valuable sources for information about specific companies as well as other companies that you hadn't considered. These resources may be available through your local library and can help you find out more about companies that interest you.

Target companies:

Similar to contacting a company directly, make a list of 10 to 50 companies where you would enjoy working. A target list helps you be more focused, gather information unique to that particular company, and begin networking with others who may already work there or know someone who can help you make a contact.

Having a target list of companies will help you learn about the unique company culture, job openings or advancement opportunities, challenges they have, and who works for them or knows about them. With a specific company name, it also makes it easier to network with others and for them to help you.

Informational Interviews:

An informational interview is a brief informal meeting that you set up with a professional already in the industry or position that you are seeking.

This is a way to learn more about the job that you’re considering and important information about industry trends, which companies are best to work for, and specific buzz words or key words. It can expand your network, meet other professionals, and potentially lead to a open position before it's posted.

Networking effectively:

It’s estimated that 30% to 60% of job seekers will find their next job through a networking or referral contact so it’s important to learn how to network effectively. This is another powerful way to hear about an unadvertised job before others do.

When you network, be willing to give in addition to asking for help. After you meet a new business contact, be willing to share a resource, follow up with an interesting article, or see how you can benefit them as well. This makes it more about sharing resources and creating a professional relationship. Also, don't just meet and network with someone once and expect results. Practice good networking skills by consistently following up and staying in touch with them after your initial contact.

People help people that they like so be considerate, show sincere interest in them, and be likeable. Check in with your networking contacts every three to four week to keep them updated and engaged.

These extra energy enhancers for the intuitive job seeker can also help:

Create a Treasure Map/Vision board of your new job:

Having a visual image, pictures of what you want, and positive statements and affirmations that you look at frequently can program your subconscious for success and keep your energy uplifted. You have a daily choice of either worrying and being fearful about your job search, or staying positive and focused on what you want to create. A vision board that you look at daily can keep your energies lifted and help you stay motivated, inspired, and energized for actions to take and steps toward what you want.

Elevate your vibrational energies with this powerful tool:

The Violet Transmuting Flame is a powerful spiritual energy which can be used frequently to transform and clear energies around you. Simply asking for the Violet Transmuting Flame will help raise your vibrational energy to a higher frequency and clear around what you want. Use this to elevate and enhance your energies before an upcoming interview or networking event so that you radiate confidence.

Tapping into the hidden job market and using the three powerful strategies of direct employer contacts/target companies, informational interviews, networking effectively combined with energy strategies can help you stand out and attract higher Divine timing for your job search.

Using all of these can shorten your search and empower you to find that special position already waiting for you.
